The prison system tore Barkaa’s newborn baby from her hands but this only taught her that the fight for justice was one she would be part of. At just 25 musician mother, barkanji and Gomeroi artist Barka has come back from an ice addiction, severed her ties with the prison system, and had three young children along the way. She’s done this all while using music as an escape and tool to effect change in her life.
