Today on Let’s Talk we sit down and yarn with Padraic Gibson. A researcher at Jumbunna Institute for Indigenous Education and Research at UTS. With Thursdays marking our new ‘’Let’s Talk History’’ were we speak to guests about important dates and events in Australia over the last 200 years.

We also speak about Aboriginal strikes and solidarity from Unions from The Cummeragunja walk-off in 1939, The Pilbara Stockmen’s Strike on May 1st, 1946. Where over 800 stockmen walked off their jobs on the pastoral stations, The 1957 Palm Island strike, The Wave Hill walk-off, which is also known as the Gurindji strike.

There was a walk-off and strike by 200 Gurindji stockmen, house servants, and their families in August 1966 at Wave Hill. We yarn about Arthur Murray and the cotton-chippers making history in 1973 they went on strike, and more than 500 of them marched through Wee Waa.
