Tiga Bayles spoke with Sol Bellear, who was the foundation chairperson of the Redfern Aboriginal Land Council and a foundation member of the Aboriginal Legal Service, the Aboriginal Medical Service, the Aboriginal Housing Company and the National Black Theatre Company. Sol is a former Deputy Chair of ATSIC and member of the Council for Aboriginal Reconciliation. In 1999 Sol was awarded a Member of the Order of Australia (A.O.) for services to the Aboriginal community, particularly in relation to the administration and development of health policies. He is currently managing Director of his own media company Badge 90. Sol is the current Chairperson of the Aboriginal Medical Service, the Co-operative for Aborigines Ltd. and a current board member of the National Centre of Indigenous Excellence. He is a former Board member of the South Sydney Rabbitohs Football and Leagues Club, was the team manager for the Dreamtime Team that played in the 2008 World Cup and is currently the team manager for the Indigenous All Stars Team.
